At CRE2026 in Melbourne last month, the Repairify Australia team had the opportunity to meet hundreds of workshop owners, technicians and industry professionals face-to-face.

One of the highlights was finally putting faces to names.

Throughout the year, the Remote Support team speaks with workshops across Australia every day. Many of the people visiting the stand were already familiar voices, calling regularly for help with OEM Diagnostics, Programming, Secure Gateway Access, Remote Diagnostics and ADAS Calibration procedures.

One of those conversations wasn’t about a difficult fault or a complicated Programming procedure.

It was much simpler.

A workshop owner mentioned that their asTech All-In-One device seemed slower than it used to be.

Nothing was broken.

The tool still worked.

It just felt sluggish.

Bradley from the Remote Support team had an immediate suggestion.

Have you cleared the cache recently?

Like many workshop owners, the customer hadn’t considered it.

And like many Android devices, the asTech All-In-One had likely accumulated a large amount of temporary data over time.

Sometimes the simplest fixes really are the best ones.

Why Diagnostic Tools Slow Down Over Time

Modern diagnostic devices are incredibly capable.

Today’s workshops rely on OEM Diagnostics, Remote Diagnostics, Programming, Secure Gateway Access and ADAS Calibration procedures that simply weren’t part of everyday repairs a decade ago.

The downside is that many modern diagnostic platforms are effectively specialised Android tablets.

Just like your phone, they store temporary files known as cache.

Cache exists for a good reason. It helps applications load more quickly by storing frequently accessed information.

Over time, however, those temporary files can build up.

The result can include:

  • Slow application loading
  • Delayed screen transitions
  • Laggy menus
  • Reduced responsiveness
  • Applications that don’t behave as expected

If you’ve noticed your diagnostic tool feeling slower than normal, clearing the cache is often one of the easiest troubleshooting steps you can try.

How To Clear Cache on the asTech All-In-One

The exact menu structure may vary slightly depending on software version, but the process is generally straightforward.

  1. Open All In One App
  2. Touch App Settings Tile
  3. Tap Clear Cache
  4. Restart the application by closing and re opening

If multiple applications seem slow, it’s also worth restarting the device once you’ve cleared the cache.

Many workshops are surprised by how much difference this simple step can make.

This Isn’t Just an asTech Thing

While the conversation at CRE2026 was specifically about an asTech All-In-One device, the same principle applies to many diagnostic platforms used throughout the industry.

Whether you’re performing OEM Diagnostics, Remote Diagnostics, Programming, Secure Gateway Access procedures or ADAS Calibration work, there’s a good chance the device you’re using is storing temporary files in the background.

Different manufacturers use different menus and interfaces, but the underlying concept remains the same.

If you’re unsure how to clear cache on your particular device, try:

  • Checking the manufacturer’s documentation
  • Contacting technical support
  • Searching online for your specific device model
  • Asking an AI assistant for instructions

A quick search for:

“How do I clear cache on my diagnostic tool?”

will often point you in the right direction.

It’s Not Always Cache

Of course, not every performance issue is caused by cache.

Slow internet connections, software updates, storage limitations and hardware issues can all affect performance.

If your device is still struggling after clearing the cache, it may be worth contacting support for further investigation.

But because it’s quick, safe and easy, clearing cache is often one of the first troubleshooting steps recommended by support teams.

Think of it as the diagnostic equivalent of checking the simple things first.

A Five-Minute Fix Worth Remembering

The lesson from CRE2026 wasn’t really about cache.

It was a reminder that the simplest solutions are often the easiest to overlook.

As workshops become increasingly reliant on OEM Diagnostics, Remote Diagnostics, Programming, Secure Gateway Access and ADAS Calibration procedures, keeping your equipment running efficiently becomes just as important as keeping your workshop organised.

If your diagnostic tool feels slower than it should, take five minutes and clear the cache.

You might save yourself an hour on the phone to technical support.

And if the issue persists, you’ve already completed one of the first steps your support team will likely recommend anyway.
