Trade shows are all about the handshakes, the questions, the quiet moments where someone leans over the stand and asks: “Can you do this? Can you program that? Do you cover these models?”

For Repairify Australia’s new General Manager, Matt Douglass, that’s the soundtrack of Capricorn. “Coverage is the big theme,” he says. “People want to know if you can handle their vehicles. And they want to know you won’t leave them stranded when the jobs get tough.”

That mix of coverage and support is what Douglass and his team are betting on. Because in today’s repair industry, it’s not just about having the kit — it’s about backup, confidence, and keeping the jobs in-house.

Why a road trip, not a flight?

After the show, Douglass and colleague Sean Quinn hit the road from Sydney to Melbourne. Instead of hopping a flight, they drove the long way. “If you just fly metro to metro, you miss the guys in between,” Douglass explains. “Our goal is to be in every corner of Australia. The road trip meant we could stop, demo, and solve problems in real time.”

And it wasn’t just handshakes and brochures. At Bousfield Automotive in Wagga Wagga, run by Jayson Bousfield, they walked straight into a live problem.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio, dealer delay

On the hoist: a 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio that needed radar module programming after a replacement part. The dealer? Two to three hours away, with a waitlist stretching weeks.

“That’s where Repairify steps in,” Douglass says. “We plugged in the All-in-One, our Sydney-based techs logged in via remote diagnostics, and within the hour the module was coded and ready. Then the workshop could carry out the ADAS calibration on site. Job done.”

The reaction? “They were over the moon,” Douglass grins. “Signed up on the spot. It gave them the confidence to take on more of those jobs in the future.”

And while they were there, they even knocked over a dynamic ADAS calibration on a Ford Ranger — proving that once you’ve got access, the workflow becomes repeatable.

Secure gateways, module programming, confidence

Stories like that matter because of where the industry is heading. Cars are now software on wheels, with secure gateways locking down access to critical functions. Without the right tools, independent workshops risk being locked out.

“Workshops want OEM-level access. Secure gateways, module programming, ADAS calibration, remote diagnostics — that’s the package,” Douglass says. “When you can deliver that and back it with real people, that’s what keeps them profitable.”

Nothing beats a live demo

From a marketing point of view, Douglass says these trips are gold. “Massive value. Nothing beats showing it in action. Brand awareness, education, proving capability — it sticks when they see it live.”

And then there’s the human side. Hours in a car with Sean Quinn, talking shop, swapping ideas, building trust. “Englishman and Irishman,” Douglass laughs. “Like brothers who’ve fallen out but still love each other. Worth every hour.”

Proof in the miles

For Douglass, the takeaway from the trip is clear: Repairify isn’t just about selling equipment. It’s about showing workshops they don’t have to lose jobs to dealers, that with remote diagnostics and ADAS calibration support they can keep control.

“It proves the model,” he says. “With Repairify, workshops can grow, make more money, and never feel left alone on complex jobs.”

Pedestrian detection systems are no longer an optional extra — they’re now central to keeping vehicles and road users safe. For independent repairers, that means calibration after collision repair isn’t just a technical step, it’s a business opportunity.

With remote diagnostics and OEM-level support, Repairify makes it possible for workshops to take control of ADAS jobs — without sending vehicles back to the dealer.
